Viton® consists of essentially four different "families" of polymers:

Specialty versions of A, B, and F types are available in which HFP is replaced with a specialty monomer to improve low-temperature flexibility. These are LT types: GLT-S, GBLT-S, and GFLT-S. These types are made using Advanced Polymer Architecture.

These new types demonstrate the following improvements:

  • Improved sealing force retention and longer seal life
  • Improved compression set
  • Improved resistance to hot water and acids
  • Improved low temperature sealing

In processing:
  • Better mold flow and extrusion
  • Faster curing
  • Improved demolding at elevated temperatures and a much lower sticking
  • Lower mold fouling

Viton® Extreme™

Viton® Extreme™ fluoroelastomers combine the excellent thermal resistance of Viton® with the unique resistance to chemicals and to environments that have historically exceeded the performance of conventional fluoroelastomers.

Viton® Extreme™ TBR is a new TFE/Propylene copolymer that uses APA technology and a revolutionary bisphenol cure site compared to existing TFE/Propylene. TBR has inherent base resistance, and it provides lower volume swell in hydrocarbons and improved processing.

Viton® Extreme™ ETP is an upgrade from ETP-900 with significantly improved processing and end-use properties. It is inherently resistant to base attack caustic solutions, amines, and hot water. In aggressive environments where TFE/Propylene or FKMs are not an option, ETP is the best of both worlds.
